Basco Hosts Renowned Paint Technologist, Phil Green – 26th February, 2016

Renowned paint technologist, Mr. Phil Green was in Kenya for a series of technical paint trainings for Basco staff and clients from 25th-26th February, 2016. Mr. Green who has had a long relationship with Basco of over 15 years took the staff and clients through several technical trainings on various paint aspects. Each of the trainings was tailored to suit the unique need of the audience and in line with their job role.

The British born, South African based Mr. Green has close to 40 years’ experience in the paint industry having worked for the some of the leading global paint brands. He has published over 50 academic papers on paint, travelled to 48 countries; 21 of them in Africa and given talks in several international building/paint conferences across the globe.

Basco staff was taken through seven modules as well as three master classes designed by Mr. Green to equip them to troubleshoot different paint failures at sites which could be caused by varying causes. A second training was held for contractors at the Monarch Hotel who underwent 10 modules relevant to their role as paint applicators. The final training was for architects, which also comprised of 10 modules on paint with a special emphasis on challenges faced by architects who are mostly the overall project manager in sites.

The training ended with a cocktail held at the rooftop of the Monarch Hotel where staff and guests mingled freely and relaxed after intense training sessions. Speaking during the conclusion of the trainings, both contractors and architects appreciated the depth of training offered by Phil as well as the demystification of various challenges experienced in Africa.
