Fundii Centre for the Arts along Karura Avenue in the leafy suburb of Muthaiga was recently opened with support from various partners including Basco Paints. The start-up arts centre will act as a creative hub for collaboration for Kenyan artists and seeks to provide a space where Nairobi’s talented and diverse arts community can collectively create and develop innovative ideas.

The well attended launch was an exclusive, by invitation only event, that focused on attracting high profile clients and introducing Fundii as an innovative space for contemporary arts and design. The guests were treated to the rare feat of meeting Basco Paints’ Brand Ambassador, Peter Marangi who left them in stitches. Basco Paints was also represented by Business Development Officer, Prasheet Shah and PR Executive, Sylvia Njeri.

Alexandra Spyratos, an artist based in Malindi and known internationally for her vibrant paintings of African wildlife was the first artist to showcase her beautiful work at the gallery owned and co-founded by Mehal Patel and several other partners. By connecting visual artists, designers, performing artists, musicians, writers and other creatives the centre will build a dynamic outlet for the arts and cultivate personal and social expression, dialogue and change.
